Shatta Wale, the Ghanaian act who couldn’t perform at the recently-held Aiteo CAF Awards 2017 has stated that Ghana music industry was shown lack of respect.
He has also fingered some Ghanaians as the people behind this mishap that took place at the awards gala that saw Egypt’s Mohamed Salah emerge the African Footballer of the Year.
According to him, despite the illustrious musicians Ghana can boast of, these people thwarted it from being showcased to the world.
“We have great things in Ghana — things to explore, things to show to the world, things to let Africa know that we have things like these here. And who are those things? — Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, Sarkodie, Samini — stuffs like that,” he told Abeiku Santana on the Ekwanso Dwoodwoo show on Friday.
“We didn’t portray our culture last night. All because , a set of Ghanaians went [to] freeze these people told them we can get these people because our musicians are cheap. So that’s how come I didn’t go to perform,” he added.
He went on to state emphatical;ly that “they have disrespected the whole Ghana music industry.”
Billed to perform at the show, Shatta Wale revealed in a separate interview that he was given $30,000 but won’t give it back to the organiser.
The ‘Forgetti’ is set to headline the Untamed Energy Concert tonight at the Tema Sports Stadium in Tema.
