“Give Us A Music City” Allan Cash Charge Politicians Of Ghana

A Music City, by its simplest definition, is a place with a vibrant music economy. There is growing recognition among governments and other stakeholders that Music Cities can deliver significant economic, employment, cultural and social benefits.While music takes centre stage in this request, the findings and recommendations are relevant to almost anyone in the broader community. Is Ghana looking to draw tourists to its city? Attract tech firms and the bright, young people they employ? Build Music city’s brand? Then we all need to Think music!
A vibrant music economy drives value for cities in several important ways. It fuels job creation, economic growth, tourism development and artistic growth, and strengthens a city’s brand. A strong music community also attracts highly skilled young workers in all sectors for whom quality of life is a priority. This in turn attracts business investment.
Ghana is blessed with a Talented Youth majority, people who have great potentials and those who have already made a mark in the world history of entertainment, celebrities like Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, Shatta Wale, EL, Bisa Kdei, Efya, Sherifa Gunu, Wiyaala, and now myself Allan Cash has already placed Ghana’s name in the world book of entertainment if there is any. There are a whole bank of artists in Ghana who releases a song everyday on the internet . There are millions of young  Dancers around who will jump at any chance to use their talent to fend for themselves.
The Government of Ghana should make policies and laws that will go a long way to benefit these potential youth. A Music City is all we ask for. It is a judicial notice that TEMA is the ‘issh’ when it comes to Ghana Music. So the Government can make TEMA the Music City in Ghana.
While it may be impossible to manufacture the secret something that causes artists and musicians to gather in a city, it is possible to create an environment that enables musicians to do what they do best: make music. Access to training and education programs, mentoring, music hubs or incubators as well as affordable housing can help attract and retain musicians, many of whom are on limited incomes.
We will need to establish a music office in that city (TEMA) and they will have and advisory board that will deal with navigating music-related government policies and regulations  a significant challenge. Some cities have established a music office or officer to act as a single point of contact between municipal authorities and the music community. For example, the Seattle Office of Film + Music in the USA serves as a one-stop shop for promoters and producers of live events, facilitating contacts with city departments (e.g. fire and police). These offices can also help mediate any potential areas of conflict.

I’m sure some will say we have MUSIGHA but it’s evident MUSIGHA haven’t satisfied the Ghanaian Artist to any good recommendable level. Its about time that whatever government that come to power consider it a necessity to build for the Musicians of Ghana Music City. We want want more as Musicians and Entertainers of the country, not for our personal selves but for the whole Music community. This is Possible if only we will.
