Ghanaian dancehall musician Ebony, (real name Priscilla Opoku-Kwarteng) has stated that she is the biggest and hottest female dancehall artiste in the country.
The optimistic ‘Poison’ hitmaker who earned three (3) nominations at the upcoming VGMA 2017 mentioned this during an exclusive interview with Delay on The Delay Show.
In recent times, the debate about who Ghana’s Queen of Dancehall music is, has actively been discussed across various platforms; Kaakie and MzVee are the names that usually come to light up.
When quizzed about which Ghanaian female act is the hottest with respect to dancehall music in the country now, Ebony, 20, simply stated “myself”.
However, she revealed that self-acclaimed Queen Diva of dancehall music, Kaakie is the one she actually looks up to in Ghana.
She also stated that it is not an attempt to decrown the ‘Sankwas’ crooner who inspires her when Delay probed further.
“I’ve not decrowned her, [but] when you ask Kaakie, she will also say she is the hottest,” she asserted.
The Ruff Time Records act who admits she is the one currently enjoying the hype and vibe claimed “I don’t know who the Dancehall Queen is. I am not for that title because I am so much concentrated on my music.”
“The fact is the origin of dancehall is not even Ghana and if you are a Queen you can be deposed at anytime and I’m here to stay so I’m not here for any Queendom. It’s also not part of my worries because that won’t bring me money,” she added.
The musician who also admitted she is making a lot of money from her music career said they can share the ‘dancehall crown.’
In February this year, she told Pulse Ghana TV that she hopes to feature all female dancehall musicians on a song.
