Hiplife, a blend of hip-hop (rap music) and highlife as a Ghanaian music genre can never be undermined.
From its genesis in the 1990’s in Ghana, it continues to make strides in all aspect of our life.
Reggie Rockstone, affectionately called the ‘Grandpapa of hiplife’ has made a valid revelation, as regards, the contributions made by hiplife.
According to him, the biggest achievement of the music genre is the employment that it has given to people in the arts and entertainment industry.
“The biggest achievement of hip life is the employment, it has created jobs. Without hip life I don’t know what some of these would have been doing,” he said in an interview with Amansan Krakye on Radio Central.
“From radio, television, it has affected everything — if hiplife didn’t come, like Jay-Z and the rest won’t come to Ghana. It has created jobs; today Sarkodie can be on a billboard. It has created a lot of avenues for the young to express themselves”, he added.
Reggie Rockstone is currently promoting his new song titled ‘New Balance’.
