IT’S OVER! Nana Ama McBrown Confirms Divorce

Popular Ghanaian movie star and television host, Nana Ama McBrown, has officially confirmed that she and her husband, Maxwell Mensah, are divorced.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with Cookie Tee on Newsday on TV3, the celebrated screen goddess opened up about the decision, emphasizing that the separation was mutual and peaceful. According to McBrown, both she and her former husband had grown tired of the marriage and agreed to go their separate ways without conflict.

She explained that although Maxwell Mensah’s family was initially not in support of the decision, the divorce was handled amicably. “It was a peaceful agreement between the two of us,” she noted, adding that there was no bitterness involved.

Despite the end of their marriage, Nana Ama McBrown revealed that she and her ex-husband maintain a very cordial relationship and remain best of friends. She disclosed that they still communicate frequently and are committed to co-parenting their daughter.

“We still talk, we call each other all the time. We are best of friends. Our divorce didn’t happen on a bad note,” she said. “He takes care of his daughter, pays her school fees, and is very responsible, so we are cool. It’s just that both of us were tired of the marriage and decided to go our separate ways.”

The actress further revealed that she continues to enjoy a good relationship with Maxwell Mensah’s family, particularly his mother. She shared that she still visits them and maintains close ties.

“I visit his family, and he does the same with mine. I talk to his children and even go to his mum’s shop at Makola to buy lace or anything I want,” she disclosed.

Describing her former husband as a true gentleman, Nana Ama McBrown was quick to dismiss any speculation of abuse or mistreatment during their marriage. She stressed that Maxwell Mensah never raised his hand against her and treated her with respect throughout their 12 years together.

“The marriage simply couldn’t work,” she said. “There was no violence or maltreatment involved.”

McBrown also noted that the divorce process was relatively smooth because they did not sign any formal marriage documents and only performed a modest traditional marriage ceremony.

Touching on her future, the award-winning actress revealed that she does not intend to remarry, although she remains open to having more children. Interestingly, she admitted that despite their separation, there are still feelings between her and her former husband.

“Even though we are divorced, I still feel something for him, and I’m sure he does too,” she confessed. “I can’t tell if in the future we might come back together.”
